Good luck Scott Quigg

This weekend in Bolton Scott Quigg (23-0, 16 KO's) makes the first defence of his British super bantamweight title v Jamie Arthur (18-5, 4 KO's), and being a fan of trainer Joe Gallagher and Quigg himself, I hope he can make a successful defence.

Quigg defends his Lonsdale belt for the first time
Quigg from Bury looked much improved in his first fight with Gallagher last time out, beating Jason "2 Smooth" Booth to win the Lonsdale belt, with Booth retiring at the end of the 7th round after a dominant performance from the 23 year old. He's a huge favourite with the bookies and last week in my Prospect Watch, I tipped him to beat Carl Frampton if they fought this year, with the fight very much on everybody's lips. Quigg will be out to impress after Frampton's impressive showing last week.

Arthur isn't a big puncher, but has great fitness and workrate and will definitely test Quigg's patience. He's not been seen for a year when he got beat by the ageing Booth on a split decision and the worry is that he's now been beaten at British and Commonwealth level, and you just cant see him being good enough to win here. Arthur is the taller man and did well as an amateur, but Quigg to win by stoppage is the big favourite and I'm sure that's what he will be looking at.

I like to give Joe's fighters plenty of hype on my blog and I really hope Quigg kicks off what will be a great 2012 for Team Gallagher.
